The final stage involves selecting the correct hair colour for your hair system. It is important to choose a colour that will match with your existing hair. Please use one of the following two options:

Option 1: Send a hair Sample

We can match your hair colour accurately using a sample from your own hair. If possible, we recommend taking a cutting of hair 1" long and approx. the width of a pencil. The more hair you can provide, the easier it will be for us to analyse the colour.

If your hair is the same colour all over, please just provide one sample. However, if your hair is a different colour in different areas (e.g. you have more grey in the sides), please cut a sample from each area and label each one, informing us what part of the head it came from (e.g. front, top, sides, etc.).

Please make sure the hair is clean. This is important because dirty hair will not show its true colour.

Option 2: Colour Matching Service

If you are unable to provide a sample, we can provide a colour chart, giving you the opportunity to browse through numerous colours and select the perfect match for you.

The colour chart is available for £20.00. When you have selected your colour, please return the chart to myhairdirect™ and we will refund or credit this amount towards your purchase.

When using the colour chart, please check the colour in both artificial light and natural daylight.

Grey Hair

If your hair is not completely grey, i.e. you still have some of your original hair colour, you will need to decide how much grey hair should be incorporated into your system. This is known as the 'Grey Percentage'.

You can control the exact amount of grey hair required, and you can determine exactly where you would like the grey hair to be added. There are six areas where you can incorporate grey hair: front, top, crown, back, temple, and sides. You can choose, using a percentage, the exact quantity of grey hair you would like added to each area.

Firstly, you will need to determine your original hair colour using the methods outlined above (Option 1 or 2). Also, it is important for the cutting to include a sample of your grey hair, so we can analyse the precise shade of grey. Secondly, you will have to decide how much grey to incorporate and in which areas you would like the hair added.

If you are unsure what percentage of grey hair to add, you can order a Grey Percentage Chart, which will show you the various percentages of grey mixed with coloured hair. This will give you an accurate visual indication of how much grey you should request on your order form. The Grey percentage chart is £20.00 and you can redeem this fee against the cost of your system.

Highlights

If you would like highlights, please send us a sample of your hair colour and highlight colour using the methods outlined above (Option 1 and/or 2). Please indicate on the order form, the exact percentage of highlights you require and in which areas you would like them added (e.g. front, top, sides, etc.). It is often the case that most clients' incorporate their highlights in the front and top of their system.
